Doctor Mengele, a scientist in Nazi Germany, was one of the first individuals to experiment with combining human and animal DNA. His results were many failed experiments and it was concluded for the longest time that human and animal DNA could not be combined to form any successful, much less functioning, product. However, this was simply not the case.
Decades later, in modern times, a group of scientists have resurrected the work and, to some extent, the goals of Doctor Mengele. They have discovered that human embryos can, in fact, be injected with animal DNA and successfully retain attributes of both the human and animal species. Outside of the womb, this can also be achieved when filtering the DNA throughout the blood system, coupled with massive amounts of radiation. This is not to say, however, that there was no failure. Oh, no. Many "experiments" bore the scars of destruction in the name of scientific progress.
Secretly and gradually, people were kidnapped. They were used for the ability to produce the embryos and children that would later be experimented upon, and after enough individuals were accumulated, the kidnappings slowed even further, as the scientists now had the biological factors necessary for the continuance of their experimentation.
Labs, unknown to the public or governments, sprung up. Many were under the guise of supposed "hospitals" where, on occasion, the death of a patient would be faked, and the patient would be used for further research. All of them contain these mutated children, exploited, and without a single regard for their humanity.
Because, to these scientists, they have none.

The setting right now is a lab in Arizona, disguised as a hospital. The ground floor and up is a normal hospital. However, after the basement, there is a passageway to a facility even deeper under the ground. It is an extensive laboratory where the experiments are kept.

The setting may change as the role play progresses. Actually, I would prefer it to. It keeps the plot going.

Like the rest of my role plays, if you stick to the forum rules, you will be fine. Characters can have any sort of mutation. I don't care. Please, just don't repeat DNA. I have no problem if there are a bunch of felines, as long as they are different types of felines. I may allow powers. May being the keyword. Ask first. But if everyone decides that their character is some magic superhero, this will be disallowed. I made it Teens With Animal DNA for a reason. Gifted role plays may go elsewhere.

“Hey, you part of the Elk’s Club, or something, bro?”
Gallagher rolled his eyes. “Like I haven’t heard that one before.” he muttered sarcastically. He shot a glance at the new boy as if to say, “Really? Really?” The newcomer was old enough in his capture to have lost the initial terror - but he was young enough in it yet to still be able to act like an idiot. Honestly, who could be that jovial in a cage? Or maybe “obnoxious” was the better word. People would never cease to amaze him. Though Gallagher supposed that living as a normal human before being kidnapped made some difference. Perhaps it bred some sense of anxious amusement into them. He would never know; he had been in a cage his whole life. An experiment before he was born.
Experiment MARC3-500. Male. Fifteen years. Genetically engineered, modified human. Containing deoxyribonucleic acid from the species C. canadensis. Compliant. He rattled off the standard description, always muttered under the breaths of the scientists reading his file when it came for his time to be tested. Something about their personalities. They all knew who he was. There had been few changes in the staff that handled him in the past fifteen years. As a matter of fact, he had even been bestowed a name. It was a kindness that made him feel more human for sure, but it did not take any feeling of exploitation away. Actually, it was probably because his experiment code was just more annoying to say than, quite simply, “Gallagher.”
Others, the other experiments who may not have cared as much for names, would sometimes call him, “Elk Boy.” He didn’t like that very much. In response, he would do the same to them, rattling off their gender with their DNA-mixture almost as a pre-fix. They didn’t like it very much either, so they didn’t call him it often.
On occasion, Gallagher would wonder if he was ever too sardonic. He would always rule that this was not the case. He was actually quite the opposite for most of the time. For a kid who grew up in a dog crate, he was actually surprisingly optimistic and still had some semblance of enjoyment in life. He was critical, but only with as much cynicism as was needed to survive with the surreptitious lab workers and scientists. It was just that after being in a lab for a decade and half, some things got monotonous. Like, for example, the standard remarks about his antlers. Yes, his DNA contained elk DNA. Yes, he had antlers. And yes, they apparently did make him look like some kid from a Fall Out Boy video. After a while, it got old.
Gallagher decided not to respond to the boy any more than the look on his face required. Besides, he had a scientist behind him and a guard in front him. It really wouldn’t have mattered for him to reply.
They were leading him from the main holding commons through the corridor in which many, very extensive rooms, were located. Which one would be his today? He wondered. He always got anxious at this point in the journey. The anticipation would build up in him, trapped there, with no place else to go. That day could begin and finish with a few tests that took mere moments of his time, or it could be something like wires being hooked up to his central nervous system as the scientists tested the effects of such treatment upon his mixed, mutated brain.
The scientists opened a door. The room inside was dark, but that soon changed with a quick flick of a switch. In this way, the scientists were usually not cruel. They didn’t care to impair the mutants from seeing their experimental surroundings, unless it was another variable in such an experiment. However, today was not one of those days. Gallagher exhaled slowly as he came into the room, trying not to get too anxious. He could already feel his heart pounding against his ribcage and he was not fond of the sensation.
Inside, the room was an extensive one, with high ceilings and many, various obstacles. Some looked as innocent as those made for athletically-based dog shows. Others looked like close relatives to medieval devices of torture. Gallagher felt uneasy. He didn’t like this. But, in this lab, where he was the experiment, that didn’t seem to matter.
